If you upgraded by buying a DSR-1 then remember to set the keyboard out to 
on everytime you power-up the piano.

If you bought a new MarkII XG model, the answer is in the Advanced Operation 
Manual on page 13.  Press the Record Button. Press either the cursor (->) 
button or the Voice button.  Use the Dial or the +/yes button until the 
display reads MDR MODE REC., etc.
