D-Radio is shown in Japanese only

D-Radio is shown in Japanese only

2013-10-07 by aswath prabhu

Greetings everyone!!

Whenever I connect my Disklavier E3 to D-Radio, the screen on the controller changes to Japanese.

Even if I try to change the language using the remote controller, it doesnt.

Is there any thing that I have missed?

Please advice

I don't know your location, but maybe Yamaha have added a D-Radio server in Japan and your location determines which server you connect to? Bill Brandom might be able to throw some light on this.

Hello Aswath,

If DisklavierRadio is showing up in Japanese and all else is in English, it indicates that the DKC-850 was made for the Japanese market, not for export.

This setting usually can be corrected by going into Test Mode. If you have a very old control unit this solution will not work.

You must be very, very careful when in this mode because you could make setting changes that will cause you major problems. So follow this procedure exactly:

- Turn off the control unit
- Power up while holding the STOP and RECORD button
- This should put you in TEST MODE
- Press the DOWN arrow
- Press the RIGHT arrow
- Press PLAY button. This will display Test &; Loader version. The version will need to be 2.00 or higher for this to work...
- Screen should look something like 800| JPN | REC | GP | DB51
- Press SELECT button, this should change JPN to ENG
- Turn control unit off
- Turn control unit back on. Problem should be corrected.

I hope this helps!

Thanks for your input Bill.
I am I right then in assuming the all D-Radio is still streamed form the States?

I believe all English DisklavierRadio (also called PianoRadio) is streamed from the US. Japanese DisklavierRadio is streamed from Japan.

Hi Adrian,

My understanding is the "English" version is from the U.S. and the "Japanese" version is streamed from Japan.

The two locations are not playing exactly the same content.
