Problem with sustain pedal - MK IV
2014-01-07 by <gward1211@...>
I have a DC3 Mark IV and have noticed a peculiar pedal problem when playing some of the Yamaha demo files that came with the DKV and am asking whether other Mark IV owners could do a quick test to see if the same problem occurs on their DKV.
Simply put, when playing some of the demo files, the sustain pedal abruptly stops working at the same point in the file each time it is played. This occurs about 50% of the time. The only way to get the pedal working again is to send the DKV to standby and then start it again. The file will then play again with normal pedal action until it gets to the point at which it stops.
2 files have been noticed to cause this problem-
Moonlight Sonata in the folder Pianosoft plus Graphics (Demo) - the pedal stops at 50 seconds; and
Fantasie Impromptu (song 22) in Piano Classics (Demo) - in this file, the soft pedal gets the jitters at 40 seconds and several other places, without actually moving the action to the right, and the sustain pedal abruptly stops working at 1min, 47 seconds.
I'd be pleased if other Mark IV owners could let me know whether this is a general fault (either with all Mark IVs or with the demo files) or whether there is something wrong with my Mark IV.
Is there any way of viewing the pedal controller midi events in something like Cakewalk, or has Yamaha got it locked up too tightly?
Many thanks
Geoff
