Used 720k DD Disk

Used 720k DD Disk

2001-12-18 by allanz_2000

I am not a computer wiz and I have this problem of mine regarding
720k floppy Disk. I am from the Philippines and Double density disk
is not available here in our country. But I have found used DD Disk
that I can use, the problem is that some of them can't be read by my
Disklavier.I checked with my computer and an error says " can't
read,no CRC" Is there a program to check the integrity of a 720K Disk
and can I format it with Windows Format Disk? Thanks for any help you
can provide.

I have had the same problem with used 720 K disks. Try formatting them in
your Disklavier. The Giebler Utility program (about $60)also formats 720K
disks.

You can buy 720K disks on the internet from Office Outlet at
www.shoplet.com for $4.55 box of 11. Serial #UNV00340 for IBM formatted or
UNV00320 unformatted.

If you are really desparate, try taping over the hole on the bottom right
hand corner of a HD disk and formatting it as a 720 K disk.

To format the disk with your Windows-based PC, use the following command:

FORMAT A: /n:9 /t:80

(where A: is your floppy drive).

Allan,

You can modify HD to DD 720K diskette. Please refer to attached picture and
use scotch tape to cover the lower left square hole. Try not to use used DD
discs. They will damage your diskette drive.

Good luck.

Sammy
