Mark IV Unexpectedly Shuts Down By Itself

Mark IV Unexpectedly Shuts Down By Itself

2015-09-11 by jonred624@...

Hi everyone,

I've got a Disklavier Mark IV that shuts down on its own after 30-45 mins. or so of operation. Based on various symptoms (e.g. hard drive stops spinning), my assumption is that there is something wrong with the power source to the I/O center.

Just wondering if any other Mark IV owners are experiencing the same issue or if any technicians out there know of a solution.

Thanks guys,

Jonathan

Jonathan,

Describe what you mean by "shuts down." The music just stops playing, the LED on the left front of piano goes from bright green, to off, the PRC100 looks like the he piano is playing but the keys quit going up and down, etc.

When it happens is there an error displayed on the remote?

What do you have to do to get it going?

Bill

Hi Jonathan

My Mark IV will shut down regularly if I play a MIDI file from my PC (USB connection for MIDI) and then commence to play the electronic piano from the keyboard (eg, with headphones on). It will take from 10 to 30 minutes to stop responding to the keyboard and then requires a reboot. This happens regularly, but only if I precede keyboard playing with a MIDI file from my PC. No-one else seems to have this problem and no-one can suggest a solution. I now live with it and reboot occasionally. As I power-down every night, the problem is not that severe.

Kind regards

Please describe what you mean that it "unexpectedly shuts down by itself. Does the system actually turn off (oblong green on/off button goes completely dark)? What do you have to do to get the piano up and running? Can you re-start it immediately?

I have a similar problem as the original poster and hope we could find a solution....if not, I'll call a tech and get it repaired then let everyone know what occurred and about the repair.

The unit would be playing when all of the sudden it would turn itself off then restart just like if I used the power switch to turn it off then back on.

Once on then you could play the unit until it decide to restart itself again. There is no certain length of time when it does this it just happens.
