Mark IV pro connect to iphone

2017-02-09 by alkalda92@...

Hello there, my name is Vlad, i'm writing from italy.
My yamaha c3 bought in 2005 has a disklavier system, Mark iV pro with prc-100 touch controller (disklavier model DC2M4)

Recently i was interested in playing the disklavier with the iphone app, but the piano was not showing up on the phone. It was connected with lan cable to the same wireless router where the iphone was. When i asked for support from yamaha italy they just told me to use cd player, because the app was not compatible with my disklavier system.

Is that right ? i thought it could be maybe a firmware problem but i cant find any site to download the 4.00

There are 2 apps for Disklavier in the App Store. The one for E3 is not for you. Use the other one. You can also use Bluetooth. Go to www.midiplayertools.com/Connecting.htm for more information.

Good afternoon, everyone.

Vlad, I suspect that you need to update the firmware in your Disklavier. It seems logical to me that Yamaha in Europe should be able to provide you with the method of updating.

In the U.S., we currently update over the Internet. Directions are contained in the Mark IV manual. Here is a direct link to a PDF of the manual, which is searchable:

http://yamahaden.com/images/Manuals/Mark%20IV/Mark%20IV%20&%20PRO%20Advanced%20Operating%20Manual_05-2011.pdf <http://yamahaden.com/images/Manuals/Mark%20IV/Mark%20IV%20&%20PRO%20Advanced%20Operating%20Manual_05-2011.pdf>

NOTE: There are instructions for first updating the piano and then updating the PRC.

Regards,
PianoBench

Hello, thank you for the reply.
I have downloaded the manual, but unfortunately the firmware of my disklavier is lower than version 3.0 and the prc-100 doesnt have any "internet" icon on the interface
The piano was bought in 2005, probably one of the first models of mark iv with version 1.1 firmware installed.
From what i can read online there should be an "updating kit " (maybe floppy disk or usb??) to install at least version 3.0, then use the prc interface and update via lan-internet. At the moment i really dont know where to look to find this kit
is there any way to download the firmware and install by myself ?
Best regards,
Vlad

Good news !
I've been in contact with a kind person from yamaha music branch italy, and he gave me the necessary to upgrade the sistem firmware from the old 1.12 to 3.0 (floppy disk + CDROM)
Then i used lan connection to update the system with prc-100 at the latest 4.2 !!!
Now the app on iphone works fine, wherever at home i am able to control the piano and the library much easier. Thank you again for the support
Best regards :)

Good morning, everyone.

alkalda92, in case it was not clear, be sure that after updating the piano itself you update the PRC. During the update of the piano, there are update files for the PRC that end up on the hard drive of the piano. The PRC Updater app on the PRC will take you through the steps to update the PRC using those files.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
