Error message "72" on DKC100R

2019-05-22 by floris.graafland@...

Hello all,

Recently I became an owner of a Yamaha MX100II, which was not working at first. However, after replacing the 230V power cable, it started playing from the floppy perfectly. The LCD did not work properly, but that did not seem to be a problem...

After a while, I bought a MIDI adapter so I could play MIDI files from other devices, and therefore increase the possibilities with the piano. However, in order to play from MIDI, you have to walk through the menu with a sequence of buttons. The buttons on the control unit are not very responsive, and without any feedback from the LCD, I wasn't able to get it right. I decided to clean the LCD connectors as an attempt to fix the LCD screen, but after reconnecting a wire the system stopped and is giving me a flashing "72" on the song number display.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions that might help me to fix this problem?

Thank you in advance,

Floris

Hello Floris

The cause of a typical liquid crystal failure is liquid leakage from a capacitor.
Replace capacitors and check the patterns and all through holes.

Leakage of condenser is squid smell (-_-;)

Thank you very much for your answer. I will try to replace the capacitors, but that will probably not fix the flashing "72" correct? Perhaps fixing the lcd might help me after that.
