MX 80

My mx 80 unit is not functioning properly. All the Pianosoft disks
and my personal disks all show as unformatted disks. I unplugged
both power and serial cord and nothing. The disks will not play-any
suggestions or do I need a new unit. If I need a new one-can I buy
it on the net and can I upgrade the unit?

Thanks
Peter

Try cleaning the heads or have a technician do it for you.

Sounds like you need a new floppy disk drive. If you want to upgrade your
unit to play Ensemble sounds and be able to use HD 1.44 disks and play
standard MIDI files, you would need to purchase a DSR1 Control unit. They
retail for $1295.

I had a similar problem with my Disklavier control unit floppy drive
(I have the DSR1). I called Yamaha and they sent me a floppy drive
for free (Mine is 4 years old). It is not very difficult to replace
it. The only problem is the instruction is in Japanese but I can
still figured it out by just looking at the pictures.

Good luck
