After adding a DCD1 to my system

After adding a DCD1 to my system

2003-12-02 by Gary Connoley

Hello All,

I have today taken receipt of a DCD1. I installed it initially to hear the
smart plus audio in action. It is really impressive the demo disk that cam
with the DCD1 is brilliant.

On to phase 2 - the smart piano disk update.
I followed the procedure on Carol's web site to the letter, updating both my
DKC500RW controller and the DCD1's firmware. I switched the system back on,
popped in the piansoft plus audio disk but all I can hear is the piano not
the audio. On investigation I found that there was audio but it was so quiet
it was barely audible. I messed around with ALL of the volume controls:
piano, controller and DCD1 but no change.

I found that the only way to get the pianosoft plus audio CD to work at the
proper volume level was is remove the second MIDI cable from the setup and
power everything off and on.
It seems that the controller is somehow affecting the output of the DCD1.

Am I missing something? Should I keep both the MIDI cables in now I have
completed the upgrades?

Regards
Gary

Hey Gary,
Had any luck with this yet? I've got the same problem. Carol sent me an
e-mail response and I have forwarded it to Bill Brandom at Yamaha. I
also have a problem with an electronic 'tone' that plays in sync with
the key movements. It is a high pitched electronic feedback sound that
is quite annoying! Anyone else have this problem?
Let me know how you come out on this.
Sincerely,
Gene

Bill Bradom promised that we should get a beta release of the DCD code soon.

Gary,
I e-mailes Mr. Brandom again today regarding this matter. Did you get an
update? If not, did you find a different solution?
Thanks

No luck as yet, I emailed Bill Brandom before Christmas for an update, but
have not as yet received any.
