Have a look at:

http://members.shaw.ca/smythe/rebirth.htm

This site is dedicated to the preservation of the content of
century old player piano rolls. While player pianos can be
repeatedly restored into perpetuity, the rolls cannot. They
are reaching the end of their life and are dying. This site
is a focal point for scanning these rolls while still possible
to capture their content in electronic form.

Most of the site focuses on the construction and operation of
roll scanners. The files coming off the scanner are far too
large to post on my web site, but are available upon request.
These files become the source for conversion into perforation
masters for creation of new recuts of the old rolls, or into
midi e-rolls for pneumatic player pianos equipped with e-valve
systems, and into midi type 1 files for solenoid pianos such as
the Disklavier, Pianodisc, Pianomation and Pianocorder.

I have converted my scan files into Midi Type 1 files, which are
small enough to post on my personal web site. To date, there
are about 2,600 midi files, all type 1, all available for
download off my site. They work normally with my 1928
Fischer grand piano equipped with a Pianocorder.

I am aware that they also work very well on these other solenoid
systems, but I do not know what process to go through for these
to work. Perhaps others knowledgeable about this can post
appropriate instructions on what needs to be done to use them on
these other systems.

Those inclined can dive directly into the archive of these midi
files by clicking on:

A single, consolidated spreadsheet listing in Excel format is
available for everything. It may be downloaded from:

Hope this helps a little.

Regards,

Terry

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
