Dkvs and visually impaired pianists

2005-12-12 by Claude Renaud

Hi,

As I already said, I have an upright DU1A Disklavier piano I bought
last year.
I would like to know if on this list there are other blinds as me who
own dkvs and I would be very interested in knowing how they can work
with them.
Is ask this, because I seriously began to work with my dkv and saw
that often we have to select options which are displayed on the unit
screen and as we can see it, I would like to know if the others have
tips and tricks to share with me and others as me, in order to try
using our dkv in the best way...

And I would like to know if a Grand Touch piano (as the latest dkvs)
could be easier to use than a upright one or not ? Are there
facilities a grand touch can offer that a upright don't have ?
Could a last generation dkv be friendlier for us ?

Do Yamaha have plans concerning dkv accessibility for poorly sighted
folks in the future or is it an unreasonable dream ?

And it is not a blind related question, but I think it would be very
great, if in the future Yamaha could implement a multilingual
interface for their dkvs.
In fact, as I'm blind, I'm obliged to ask someone else to read the
various things written on the screen unit of my dkv, but this person
does not read/understand english at all, so it is very difficult for
me to understand what she says and what I have to do most of the time
....
So, for me who am french, and for other people who don't understand
english or would like to work with their dkvs more easily, I think it
could be a great enhancement to have dkv interface in other languages
such as the most current ones as german, italian, spanish, french ...

What do you think of ...
