Please help me identify this old tune

Please help me identify this old tune

2005-12-11 by Eli

It's a midi file (less than 2 Kb) Someone told me it is "charades"
from a movie soundtrack but I think not.
This tune is decades old though, that I am sure of.

Dan,

One mustn't be so harsh on Eli. I'll bet you can recognize
beethoven's Fifth by its 4 starting notes?

Does anybody else remember the game show "Name That Tune"? Contestants
would astound the audience by naming the song with 2 notes!

Mark IV vs Mark III vs Mark II

2005-12-12 by Alberto E. Minetti

I have a very naïve question:
By starting with the idea to get a C3 Silent after my moving back to Italy from UK (where I sold my 35 years old C3), I am now considering to buy a used Disklavier C3 instead (which is also Silent). It is possible that a dealer will propose a 10-13 years old one, and there is another opportunity on a almost new Mark IV.
Are the differences between the many series of the past quite remarkable? My only purpose is on Jazz live recordings for successive analysis of the playback, thus the softest tone (recent discussion in this forum) is not an issue.
I have read the features of Mark IV series, but I would need opinions from Disklavier owners who tried more than one of them in the past to make up my mind.
Thanks in advance to anybody commenting on this.
Alberto from Milan

It's "Manhã de Carnaval" from the soundtrack to Black Orpheus (Orfeu
Negro), winner of the 1959 Cannes Film Festival Grand Prize (and
Oscar's Best Foreign Film, and a Golden Globe winner).

To hear another version of it, go here:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000004726/

And listen to the eighth song.

It's really a beautiful song. Even better if you know Portuguese.

Interesting. The translation in English, like many translations of
foreign songs, has nothing to do with the original. Here is the
original and a literal translation:

Manhã tão bonita manhã,
na vida uma nova canção,
cantando só teus olhos,
teu riso e tuas mãos
pois há de haver um dia
em que virás.

Das cordas do meu violão
que só teu amor procurou
vem uma voz
falar dos beijos perdidos
nos lábios teus
canta o meu coração
a alegria voltou
tão feliz na manhã desse amor

-----------------------------------

Morning, such a beautiful morning
There's a new song in life,
Singing merely your eyes
Your laugh, and your hands,
For there will be a day
when you will come.

From the strings of my guitar
Which only your love could bring
A voice comes
Speaking of the lost kisses
on your lips.

My heart sings,
Joy has returned,
So happy in the morning of this love.

--------------

What I find interesting is the juxtaposition of the minor key and
contemplative sound of the music with the joy of the lyrics.

Carl
