What products work the best on this? I normally dust and use the little cloth they gave me to rub out finger prints, etc. I thought I read that Yamaha actually sells a product to clean these? Thanks for any help!

My piano expert tells me not to use anything other than Old English furniture polish. paul

The best thing is an old clean T-shirt that is damp with a little water. For tougher marks, you can put a little window cleaner, like Windex, on the damp rag. If we are talking about the black, shiny finish, that is plastic (polyester), and the scratches can be buffed out using a very clean buffing wheel. Yamaha does sell a polish like the Cory cleaning products, but this is not necessary. I have seen pianos polished in the shop before delivery with something like turtle wax, but the consequences have been sometimes disastrous - like some of the polish oozing through the lid hinge onto the bass strings, or the person using the electric buffing wheel going through the finish on the edges. NEVER use a furniture polish that contains silicon as it can migrate into the pinblock where the tuning pins could become loose. I wouldn't even use Old English polish! How about the new microfiber clean and polish cloths? They sell them at Costco and some auto parts stores. They work great on a black car. Most car finishes are polyester-like finishes. They do not leave lint like a T-shirt is prone to. Carol Beigel wrote:

Micro fiber is probably all right, too! The idea is to use something very soft and not scratch the polyester. I even use those dry Swiffers to dust y piano because they pick up the dust and not just spread it around. Yamaha doessella polish like the Cory cleaning products, but thisisnot necessary. I have seen pianos polished in the shop beforedeliverywith something like turtle wax, but theconsequenceshave been sometimes disastrous - like some of the polish oozing through the lid hinge onto the bass strings, or the person using the electric buffingwheelgoing through the finish on the edges. NEVER use a furniture polish that contains siliconasit can migrate into the pinblock where the tuningpinscould become loose. I wouldn't even use OldEnglishpolish!
