Broken DC7 :( :( -- flashing green light

Broken DC7 :( :( -- flashing green light

2007-08-01 by smortaz

Hi folks,

i have a DC7 and for the past couple of weeks its been misbehaving.

basically the flashing green light on the console doesnt go away
(become a solid green).

ive tried powering off/on. unplugging. nothing. the computer comes
on and the disk churns for sure. but somehow i dont think it
completes its full boot process. the remotes cant make a connection
to the piano either.

so... has anyone seen this before? is there a way to narrow the
problem down? error code somewhere?

i have the disks from last years software update (july 2006). i put
both the CD/floppy in, but cant get them red because the 'hold green
button until it turns off / restart' process doesnt work.
essentially holding down the flashing green button doesnt do
anything. it keeps flashing.

any help would be appreciated!

Try switching off the piano by disconnecting the mains supply. wait 20-30 seconds and switch it back on.

Hopefully, it will go throught the update procedure, which may cure your fault. If the fault persists, you may have a crashed hard drive, which would need to be replaced with a new, pre-programmed drive.

Thanks much for the advice.

i tried that too, but no luck. the funny thing is that the hard drive
churns and makes the nomral noises you expect from the drive. but who
knows whats really going on with it...

i guess its time to call yamaha...
