Mark III and IV's are models of Disklavier. The Disklavier is not
available as a
retrofit to other (even Yamaha) pianos.

There are after market player mechanisms, QRS is perhaps the
most popular, but they won't be a Disklavier, and not a Mark III or
IV.

The Mark III or IV isn't just the computer, it's the whole system
of solenoids and the keyboard sensors (and the leap from III->IV
is substantial in the player mechanism in addition to being a much
more elaborate computer, the II->III transition was primarily a
computer upgrade).

There are two systems out there that I know of - Pianodisk and QRS (Pianomation). Both of these systems are installed as a retrofit to any piano. I owned a QRS system before the disklavier and was very happy with it. My opinion is that the QRS sytem could play more quietly than the disklaver but the piano was also different. I bought a diaklavier because of its of recording capabilities and thought that the electronics were far superior. I know from my experience working on vehicles that something designed and installed at the factory for a specific vehicle is far less trouble prone than one that is installed aftermarket. I believe the same is true of any electronics including pianos I remember my QRS system needing driver boards from often at a cost of about $100 USD each if you installed then yourself. I believe QRS still uses the same driverboards and solenoids. They have since upgraded their software and added the recording capabililties. It is my opinion that the disklavier is a far better system and I own a MX100XG II. I'm sure the newer disklaviers are even better. Whatever you choose to buy be sure your installing it on GOOD piano. Don't put $6000 into a $500 piano.
