DKVBrowser trouble...

DKVBrowser trouble...

2008-05-01 by jaywicks

Perhaps someone can help? I recently downloaded DKVBrowser which looks
fantastic. I can connect to my MarkIV but when DKBBrowser starts, the
entire database list of albums, songs from the Disklavier MarkIV is
empty even though the hard drive has many albums on it and plays fine
from the remote PRC. Am I missing something here? Thanks very much for
anyone's help!

The first question that has to be answered is: What version of the software is running on your Disklavier?

It turns out that DKVBrowser can only support version 2.0 since yamaha introduced an encrypted handshake in version 2.10.

If you are still running version 2.0 on your piano, I can help you through this but it will require you to send me some logs from the debug output of DKVBrowser. We should take the conversation private to do that.

Interesting... I didn t notice an encrypted handshake in 2.10 beta, but I guess they changed that in the final. Disappointing.

OK, looks like I'm using ver 2.1

Is there a way for me to get back to ver 2.0 so I can use DKVBrowser?

Not to my knowledge...and, as far as I can tell, there's nothing in 2.10 feature wise. It just breaks DKVBrowser.

I'm sorry. I wish there was better news.

Ah, that may be possible. I've never had an update on CD. My piano came with 2.0, and I updated to 2.10 directly via the internet connection and the remote.

I'm fairly certain there is a way to roll back to an older firmware revision. One time when we were having technical problems with the Disklavier at UCI, we thought it was because we were running a beta firmware and downgraded to the last stable release. I'm pretty sure all we did was put in the CD and floppy for the old version and performed the 'upgrade' process as normal.

You re right. They took it off of the ftp site. I suppose you could try to get someone who has the 2.0 upgrade disk to create an iso for you...

Re: [disklavier] Re: DKVBrowser trouble...

Jay,

What is it about DKVBrowser that you want to use? Version 3.0 (due out this summer) has included some similar functionality, and it may be worth waiting for that instead of trying to roll back to 2.0. (You don't know how sad it makes me to say this...)
