Need Simple Music Writing Software

Need Simple Music Writing Software

2001-02-05 by kingofebay@yahoo.com

I've tried Cakewalk Express and Music Writer 2000 standard edition,
but both seem more difficult to use than I as a beginner would need.

I am looking for software than will simply allow me to copy notes
from a music book into the software then download to my disklavier.
The one's above seem to want to tell me what the notes should be
rather than accepting what i am trying to type in.

Maybe I'm missing something because all I know are the basics of
reading and writing music notes, but there has to be a better
software program out there. Again all I want is software that will
let me input notes as they appear in my music book without modifying
the notes to be what it thinks is more appropriate. Any suggestions?

Try MusicTime Deluxe. Great music software and cheap.

The suggestion to try MusicTime is a good one. You might also look at Finale
NotePad, the baby version of the industry-standard, high-end Finale product.
It is totally free and available for Mac and Windows. You can find it at:

Try Igor Engraver at

	http://www.noteheads.com

The software is free. It's currently available for Macintosh only, but a PC version is on the way. Igor is music notation software which also interfaces to Midi output. You enter the notes the way they would appear from your book - as a matter of fact Igor is used for music publishing. It can also accept input directly from your Disklavier's keyboard.

Try Noteworthy Composer at www.ntworthy.com I really like it although it
doesn't handle some of the more advanced XG control parameters. The demo
version is full featured but allows no more than ten saves of any piece
entered. After you get used to the short cuts, one hand on the number pad
and arrow keys and the other on the tab and space bar is about all it takes.

I'm using SmartScore from Musitek ( www.musitek.com ) They have a
piano only version for less money. Both let you OCR the music &
convert to midi file. SmatrScore will do up to 16 parts. You can
down load a free trail version and try it.
