Search for model reference and documentation

2008-11-26 by raphael.chamberot

Sorry for a "beginner" question, but I just purchased a 14 years old
Yamaha "MX100 II" and when I read the messages that you exchange in
the group, I cannot understand the disklavier classification.
I am now wonderning if it is different from a country to another (I
can even not find "MX100 II" in the disklavier models on the
yamahamusicsoft.com site!). Can anyone help me find my way in the
different type of MX100 disklavier?
I am also looking for a user documentation on this model.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi

Try here for Yamaha manuals:

http://www.yamaha.co.jp/manual/english/result.php?div_code=piano

Hope you find what you want.

Dave

Good afternoon, everyone.

Raphael, you should be able to get the manual at the address mentioned
below. Here is a brief history of your DisklavierL

The first upright Disklavier's brought to the US in 1987 were called
MX100A. There was later a B model. Neither piano had a tone generator,
and each used double-density (DD) floppy disks and recorded and played
back files in the E-SEQ format..

The next Disklavier in the form of a studio upright was the MX100 II.
It added playback support for files called Standard MIDI File Type 0.
In addition, it had an improved user interface and additional MIDI
features.

Following the MX100 II was the MX100 IIXG. Starting with this model,
the control unit was not longer built into the case. The new control
unit added the following:

--read and write high density (HD) disks as well as DD disks
--internal GM/XG/DOC tone generator
--recording in both E-SEQ and SMF Type 0 formats
--playback of E-SEQ, SMF Type 0, and SMF Type 1
--option to send and receive MIDI data by serial cable (in addition to
the traditional MIDI ports)

For awhile, Yamaha offered an MX100 II --> MX100 IIXG upgrade. That is
no longer available. If you can find a Yamaha DSR1, you can bring your
MX100 II up to the user features found in the MX100 IIXG. If you can
find a DCD1, you can additionally get most of the remaining CD-related
features of the next generation studio upright, known as the DU1A
(which is a Mark III Disklavier).

Regards,
PianoBench

Raphael
Hope the above helps too.
I have the MX100MR.
It is 1994 model it will play the "anyname.FIL" file and record if
you wish what you play on the piano.
The Disklavier tools "DKUTILS" on the this web site will help you
convert MID files to FIL files.
To convert your 1.4meg floppy to a 720kg floppy. Place tape over the
RHS hole and using WIN98 (The easiest way) format the floppy as a
720kb (Change selection from 1.4meg to 729kb. XP does not do this)
or download off the internet a program that will format floppy's.
Get a few of them done so you can seperate your choice of songs.
From the DKUTILS (small files to download zipped up) that is on this
site. Use EEXPLORE to set the directory up. Now their will be no
songs as yet but if your model records then the floppy is now ready
to record from piano OR ready to put FIL files onto.
In the DKUTIL there is a TXT file to help explain how to use the
programs.
Marcus - Merry Christmas everyone...........
PS thank you to the person whoever he/she is in this world that
created DKUTILS. Otherwise my piano would be just furniture.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
