Radio Service now available for other instruments

Radio Service now available for other instruments

I received an email from Yamaha about radio service for others to use on their instruments (other than Mark IV). You may want to check it out,

It might be something to consider. I have had the service since the beginning and truly enjoy the radio service. There are two complementary channels to try out.

Does this mean that Yamaha is planning to make the radio feature available
to DU1A Mark III users eventually, or is it really just old information
repackaged? Consider my fingers crossed...

This feature can only be implemented on instruments which have network capability, i.e. some very recent models. Since the DU1A MkIII doesn't have network capability, there is no way to connect it to the internet for the Disklavier Radio feature.

They are probably concerned that some users will record the stream.

Changes to the older Disklaviers' firmware would be necessary to prevent
that; they would need to add support for receiving MIDI data in an
encrypted format. Such engineering work on discontinued products is
likely cost-prohibitive considering the limited revenue Yamaha would
expect from additional Disklavier Radio subscriptions.
