Help with DKVBrowser

Help with DKVBrowser

2010-03-11 by RobA

Hi everyone. New Mark IV owner and loving it. Was able to do an internet connection using a Buffalo Airbus system with a unit attached to the Disklavier and a unit attached to my wireless router and it connects great. I am now reading about the DKV browser and am very curious, but my initial attempts to open the program create an unable to locate piano error message. If anyone could gently(lol) guide me through how to configure or find the piano on our home network I would appreciate.

Help with DKVBrowser

2015-01-04 by tetatl@...

I am hoping one of you guru's can give me some hints. I recently purchased the Yamaha E3 - what an incredible instrument. I am anxious to clean-up the memory, create a playlist or two and rename some albums. As you know doing this from the panel is tedious. So, I downloaded DKVBrowser, version 2.03 to my window 8.1 pc. I can see all the albums and my playlists, load and play songs - but I am unable to edit either the song titles, album titles, move songs to an existing playlist.

Can anyone give me a hint on what I might be doing wrong or suggest another progam?

Thanks for your advice.

Good morning, everyone.

Terry, I recommend that you join the DKVBrowser group on Yahoo and post your question there. Kevin Goroway, the author of DKVBrowser will likely answer you.

To the best of my knowledge, Kevin has had to reverse engineer the communication options with the Mark IV and E3 in order to create DKVBrowser and in the process discovered that the E3 does not offer the level of control that the Mark IV does. For that reason, DKVBrowser is not as full featured on the E3.

George hit the nail on the head. It's a good idea to join the list (I think you did, and I just approved it) anyway.
The fact is that, as far as I can tell, Yamaha "left out" quite a bit of the wire protocol that lets these features take place. I'm still hoping that a future update will allow this type of interaction with the piano, as I'd love to revisit it and bring these newer pianos all of the features that us MarkIV owners have enjoyed.
That being said, I think there was one "hidden" feature that let you rename songs from DKVBrowser, but we should probably continue this thread over on the other group.
