Bug in Version 4 for MARK IV ?

Bug in Version 4 for MARK IV ?

2010-03-24 by Julien Roche

Hi everybody,
;
I just upgraded my Mark IV to version 4 for using my disklavier with iphone. It works perfectly after upgrading also the PRC.
Unfortunately now in acoustic mode the piano signal is going ALSO to the loudspeakers....
How to remedy to this problem ? This just happened when I have downloaded the Version 4 of MARK IV.
Thank you for advice.
Julien

I found that (on version 4.0) I get the following:

In Quiet Mode, playing the piano, only the headphones produce a sound.

In Quiet Mode, playing back pre-recorded songs, the speakers also produce sound, including the piano voice.

In Acoustic Mode, only the backing appears at the speakers when playing back songs. Nothing comes from the speakers when playing only the piano itself.

I'm not sure if this is due to the v4.0 upgrade but I'm also experiencing more 'glitches' with the piano since then:

1) Occassionally in quiet mode, the speakers do not produce any sound, and neither do the headphones

2) Some of the smartkey songs (my children's favourites - Alphabet song and Old MacDonald) do not play properly anymore - they don't wait for the middle c to be pressed before continuing. Other smartkey songs work normally. Problem seems to have started ever since I made a shortcut for them and started playing them via the iPhone application.

Now our beloved DKV is sadly not immune to having an occassional funny turn and invariably shutting down and restarting the piano has always resolved many of these odd behaviours. Whereas for 1) rebooting the piano tends to resolve the issue, I haven't found a fix for 2). I don't know if this is due to the firmware upgrade, but it sounds like a pattern is forming with issues with Quiet mode - which these demos also employ. I guess issue 2) would be less commonly experienced.

Would be good to hear if other 4.0 users are experiencing similar problems. In the meantime, I've contacted my dealer and he's following up with Yamaha.

Re: [disklavier] Bug in Version 4 for MARK IV ?

2010-03-25 by Roberto Fasciani

I own a C3 Mark IV Pro since more than two years, I haven't still upgraded to 4.0.
But ALWAYS my speakers play piano signal in Acoustic mode. I was disappointed about that but wrongly I assumed it was a normal behaviour.
Considering that Pro comes without built-in speakers I am now rethinking on cables connection from DKV my ampli system:
I connected to Omni OUT instead of Speakers OUT.
These connectors are different and (Large jacks instead of RCA) I never tried to connect Speakers OUT to my ampli system.
I tried to connect Speakers OUT directly to my speakers (passive speakers) and it didn't works.
So, maybe connecting Speakers OUT to an ampli system may solve both our problems.
Let me know your cable settings.....
Some suggestions before I go buying the cable to do this connection?

Hi everybody,
I just upgraded my Mark IV to version 4 for using my disklavier with iphone. It works perfectly after upgrading also the PRC.
Unfortunately now in acoustic mode the piano signal is going ALSO to the loudspeakers....
How to remedy to this problem ? This just happened when I have downloaded the Version 4 of MARK IV.
Thank you for advice.
Julien

Roberto,

A suggestion from Albania to suppress your piano signal in Acoustic mode on loudspeaker: please check the following. With the PRC go to SETUP then AUDIO I/O play with the arrow keys up/down to arrive to OMNI OUT . With arrow key left/right put in front of OMNI OUT : "Output" (and NOT Output + Piano TG). Now it should be ok for your problem

Good luck !
