Is it possible to use the disklavier with the iPad and garage band to record music? Also, is it possible to download or purchase the sampled sounds from the clavinova and put them on the disklavier? I am a new user of the disklavier.

Two very good questions worth discovery. The latter would be worth a mint. --- In disklavier@yahoogroups.com, "peteohlin@..." <peteohlin@...> wrote:

Good afternoon, everyone. GarageBand on iPad functions the same as it does on the Mac with respect to MIDI. The program listens to all available MIDI inputs and records from any of them. It does not let you play back via MIDI, however. Playback is strictly handled by instrumental sounds that are internal to the program. If you want to record and play back MIDI data using the iPad with your Disklavier for both MIDI input and MIDI output, check out MusicStudio. It is a full featured sequencer. If your Disklavier has a USB MIDI connector, you will not be able to use it with your iPad at this time. Yamaha's USB MIDI feature requires a driver that is not available for iPad. You can use the MIDI ports of your Disklavier to connect to the iConnectMIDI interface (www.iconnectivity.com) which, in turn, connects to the iPad. Alternatively, if you have the Apple Camera Kit USB dongle, you can connect any class-compliant USB MIDI interface to it. (A class-compliant MIDI interface is one that does not require a driver on Mac or PC. The Yamaha USB MIDI interfaces do not qualify.)
