UX-16 driver for Windows 7

UX-16 driver for Windows 7

2011-08-08 by tbill84701

I tried to install the drivers on my new Windows 7 laptop, but got a message that the disk did not have the proper driver. I searched the Yamaha website but did not locate one. Any help appreciated.

I have installed the 64 bit driver. The red light on the UX-16 is on and the MIDI In light is flashing. When I open the Yamaha USB-MIDI driver in the control panel, and select send all on the piano plays a note and the all stop releases the note. When I play a MIDI file it plays in Windows media player but does not activate the piano. I know the cables are correctly connected because my previous computer worked correctly. I am stumped.

What software are you using in the middle - between the Disklavier and your computer keyboard? You need a software program like a MIDI sequencer. There are always options in the pull down menus to select devices. You need to select the correct input and output devices; like the UX16.

you can download a very simple MIDI keyboard program for testing your connection. my Virtual MIDI keyboard on the following page will do it. you have to select a device just as Carol explained. the program has a help file that explains how it works. you can do a lot of testing very easily.

Good evening, everyone.

On a Windows computer, you need to specify the MIDI Output device for any program that you use.

When you use a full featured MIDI program, you'll find that setting within the program in a preference called MIDI Setup or something similar.

If you are using a program that does not have such a preference setting (such as Windows Media Player), the program asks the Windows operating system what the system-wide MIDI Output default setting is, and then the program uses that setting.

In Windows XP and earlier systems, you could set a system-wide MIDI Output default using the Sound control panel. For some reason, Windows Vista and Windows 7 has taken away user access to this system-wide setting.

If you search the Internet, you'll see some solutions to this problem, such as the discussion on this page:

NOTE: I have not tried any of these solutions.

The Mac used to have a similar system-wide option that was accessible in the QuickTime control panel. That option on the Mac has also disappeared with OS X.

Regards,
PianoBench
