Disklavier Cleaning?

2001-09-10 by Babycak901@aol.com

Does anyone have any good ideas for cleaning a high gloss disklavier. I have
a DC3Pro and have been using a piano polish. I use Pledge Grab-It's for
in-between dusting. But now the polish seems to be building up. A friend
suggested that I try Murphy's Wood Soap. Has anyone use this and how were
your results. The Pledge Grab-It's work great because they are antistatic.
Interested in your input.

The finish on your DKV is plastic. You should never use polish because, as
you can see, it builds up because it does not sink in. Actually something
like Turtle wax that you use on your car would work better. This polyester
finish will also buff out using a new, clean buffing wheel in your electric
drill.

Normally use a soft cloth, like an old T shirt, with just a little water.
In this case, use a damp t-shert like cloth, and spray a little Windex on
it. See if this cuts through the polish build up. Try just a little place
first.

For maintenance dusting, I find that the Swiffers work great!

Yamaha manufacturers polishes specifically for the high gloss polyester
finish as well as a separate one for the keys. You should be able to purchase
them at any authorized Yamaha dealer. We have tried them both on our PRO and
they work just fine. Given the $ investment in the PRO, the price of these
polishes is not significant.
