The laser wouldn't engrave the finish, just the graphics. You would
anodize the panel black first, then burn away the black to expose the
silver aluminum underneath for the legends.

Black anodizing would not match the motm polane spatter finish paint
exactly. From a few feet away, it would not look much different. The
graphics would be aluminum in color though, not white. Like the
original modcans.
