Dotcomformat

First of all COTK modules are made by COTK from their German and English manufactures.  The 921a and 921b oscillator modules are seperate.  The 921a can support up to 8 osc with one driver.  I have only read one review that said COTK was a poor build, I don't belive this to be true at all.   They are built with quality parts and good engineering.  The one big module Morbius is talking about is a special order module these days.  
COTK makes very nice modules, in fact they have developed more new modules in the past two years than any other synthesizer manufacture.  
In the beginning COTK may of had a rocky start but these days they are one of the top profesinal synthesizer manufactures in the world.   They don't run their business in such a progressive manner as dotcom, thier is little to know support, no user groups.  Getting hold of some one at COTK to take an order or answer a question takes time and persistence, it takes a long time for responses sometimes.  Delivery isn't that bad when compaired to MOTM, anywhere between 2 weeks to 8 months depending on the module.  But their products are fun, unique, and musical.  
I don't see COTK as a threat to the DotCom but more of a complement to such a great synthesizer.  I've been told that COTK isn't interested in selling huge numbers of synthesizers, or even sell at all in the north american market, they just want to produce the most Moog like clones to a Doepfer drenched microsynth Europe.
 
Morbius, and I mean no disrespect, for as long as I have known you, you have been talking down COTK.  Do you think your really thnk your opinion is helpful?  These are super-fun modules, I love the 904abc filter set its nice, I think you would really dig it having a filter coupler is nice.   But any way all your advice tells people is don't expand and try this perfect match for a Dom Com.  I belive people respect and take your opinion as gold.

Well... look... I've heard a few people say....  well, now hold on...  I was gonna say 'good things'....  but now that I think about it more... it's more fair to say I've heard 'varying' things.  Some of this stuff falls into the pigion-hole labeled "I don't know first-hand".... like the build-quality. I've heard some good things... I've heard some not so good things. I've also heard (only heard) that some (maybe more... or less) of the modules were actually made by another Euro-manufacturer, and stuck into COTK module housings. I don't see how that can be true for everything, if at all.
 
Seems to me that the 921b osc. banks are really one, big module, rather than 3b's and an A... or whatever. And perhaps there are separate and individual osc.s. But- ya know... I wouldn't like having any module going on the fritz... or just kinda not ok, and for me not to be able to get in touch with... or be avoided by 'the dude'. And then... how 'bout the costs to return it/them for service, and how long it/they would be gone.... and what recourse do you really have? I've been interested... and if they were in the US, I'd have probably tried some stuff. So- like I said... I can't give a + or - on the products, first-hand. All i know is my first-hand experiences with 'Mr. Big'... and because of that, I won't extend my trust to COTK, and those who have said negative things... well, I can believe them more easily.
 
Wasn't it Kevin who was very unimpressed with the build of what modules he got?...  There's was a good deal of brew-ha-ha at one point about it. I dunno. Maybe it's not so much of an issue if you just get a couple of modules, and it's not the main platform of your system that's at risk.

	I read you LOUD and CLEAR! I've had a couple of episodes with shifty or inept businessmen in my pursuit to modular nirvana. Thankfully, I've avoided getting ripped off. I guess there's a reason why some synth manufacturers aren't the talk of the town, if you know what I mean? On the other hand I've had fantastic experiences with the folk who sell kits (Bridechamber, CGS, Elby) and of course dotcom. 			Strange coincidence! I just found out about COTK today. I was wondering what the COTK references meant! I was lost at their website in a modular daydream trance. Their 20 stage phaser and ensemble effect are particularly enticing. Too bad their stuff is SO expensive.
