Power Distro

Power Distro

2008-05-17 by phineousbonemachine

I have a 22space portable DotCom cab.

I want to fill one/bolth rows with Modcan B modules.

here are the spec differences.

DotCom.

Pitch Control Voltages: 1 volt per octave
Waveform Voltages: 10V peak-peak
Signal Input Impedance: 100K
Signal Output Impedance: 1K
Envelope Voltages: 0-5V
DC Power: +15V, -15V, +5V
AC Power: 110VAC, 220VAC

Modcan B.

Pitch Control Voltages: 1 volt per octave
Waveform Voltages: 0- 5V and +/- 2.5V peak-peak
Signal Input Impedance: typically 50-100K
Signal Output Impedance: typically 1K
Envelope Voltages: 0-5V
DC Power: +15V, -15V
AC Power: 115VAC, 220-240VAC

As you can see they are almost exactally the same.

can I use a QPS1 Power Supply and a 20 space harness? (since I have
one)

and if so is there a place to purchase the connectors?

I like the Modcan cabs and all, but I really would rather spend that
cash on modules since I have an empty cab.

anyone out there have bolth DotComs and Modcan B's?

I bet they would play nicely together.

I love me DotCom modules......but I like some of the more esoteric
modules from Modcan.

The goal is to have a 3 sound/track system. One sound sequenced, one
sound set up as an arppeg, and a lead sound. (hehe I only have two
hands heh){and well two feet too LOL}.

I really like the DotCom walnut cabs. The modcan B's fit in hieght
and the width is a little different, nothing a shaved blank wouldn't
fix.

So please if anyone out there has the answer then plz let me know.

Should work fine. I've got three Modcan B modules powered by my
DotCom power supply and plan to add more in the future
 the
connectors are different though. You might be able to get Bruce over
at Modcan to provide cables that can plug into the DotCom harness, or
you can do like I did and just make small adaptor cables yourself.

I would really like to see a picture close up of your connections.

I am not really into DIY electronics....although I fear I will be.

if you could upload to pics here...that would be most helpfull.

You may want to look for MOTM mounting rails to replace the Dotcom
rails. If you don't want to mess with power conversion, there is
always the Modcan 50B power supply module.

I think I am going with the modcan rack and 50B module, and just get
rid of rack and mount the power distro card and wireing in the portable
22 space cab.

its the cheapest way to go with out any DIY mods.

i'd also really like to see photos of how you did this. can you (or anyone else) please post
some? i think that would be a great resource for the group.
