Roland GI-10 / GI-20 question

Roland GI-10 / GI-20 question

2008-09-05 by phineousbonemachine

Anyone have one of these things?

I just bought a Godin SynthAccess guitar.

I have read the manuals for bolth and the manual for the GR-20.

I dont really need the GR-20 sounds, so the GI-10/20 is the same box
( GI-20 has USB ) with out the sounds and effects. ( wich is fine by
me, I have lots of effects and 7 synths. hehe )

If someone has one of these boxes, How well does it play with your
dot com?

I understand that technique and time spent fiddling with the
sensativity is in order. I cant just bash out some dirty blues licks
all sloppy like, ALA Jimmy Page LOL

The hold function seems pretty fun and since I am at first a
guitar/bass player, I have decided to take the plunge.

Any comments, suggestions, gripes, praises, would be most welcome.

Update:

The roland GI-10 is a great little Pitch to midi box.

It has two inputs, one for the GK type pickups, and one for just a
1/4" line.

The 1/4" input is fun, I use my theremin for wave of hand noise stuff.

when used with the GK pickups (I have the GK-3 installed on my Gibson
SG) it really is a wonderfull thing. It tracks so much better than I
thought it would.

I also have the GR-20, but alas it was bought off ebay and came with
no powersupply. I live way in the styx of western WA so as of this
writting I am waiting for the powersupply to arrive in the mail.

if you were like me and waiting for a reliable Pitch to midi
converter, the wait is over.

I got my GI-10 for $150US used and the GK3 pickups are around $150US
also.

So for all you guitarist's out there struggling to learn how to play
piano, for around $300US your favorite AXE is now your main
controller.
