Sounds like audio card latency - the lag that occurs between when the software receives the midi event and when the sound is actually generated. What kind of audio card are you using? Have you set the latency as low as you can with it still being usable? Generally if you can get it 12ms or less, you should hear much less than a 32nd note of latency. When Reason triggers notes on its own synced to itself, you never notice this because either a) it compensates for itself or b) it is the only thing running so there's no reference to tell the difference. If you cannot adjust your sound card buffer latency low enough and can't replace it with a card that does accept lower latency, you might experiment with running the MD slaved to Reason and see if that eliminates the lag. That would at least point you in the right direction. Midisport 2x2 rules. I use one as well. One of the only M-Audio/MidiMan products I'd recommend anymore :/ (bad experience with some audio devices...)
