Sounds like audio card latency - the lag that occurs between when the
software receives the midi event and when the sound is actually
generated. What kind of audio card are you using? Have you set the
latency as low as you can with it still being usable? Generally if you
can get it 12ms or less, you should hear much less than a 32nd note of
latency.

When Reason triggers notes on its own synced to itself, you never
notice this because either a) it compensates for itself or b) it is the
only thing running so there's no reference to tell the difference. If
you cannot adjust your sound card buffer latency low enough and can't
replace it with a card that does accept lower latency, you might
experiment with running the MD slaved to Reason and see if that
eliminates the lag. That would at least point you in the right
direction.

Midisport 2x2 rules. I use one as well. One of the only
M-Audio/MidiMan products I'd recommend anymore :/ (bad experience with
some audio devices...)

Hey man, you hit the problem right on the nose! Talk
about "customer support"! Thanks so much.

I went into Reason and found a setting for "latency compensation"
which solved my problem.

Thanks again!

No problem, Matt. I'm glad you've got it working right for you now.
Now you can get some tracks done and you're 49 steps ahead of me.
