Besides that the machinedrum can do so much more then just drum sounds, especially with the UW upgrade now. But I've got the perfect solution for you so you don't have to choose; buy both like a lot of us. They are almost all I use nowadays and I used to have a lot of gear! I use ableton with some VST's for the things I can't do with the combo, but that's not a lot. About the ESX, I used to have one, but the UW upgrade made me sell it, it just doesn't sound good enough anymore in comparison. Good luck, Ronald.
