Hi Haiku, The Shift is strictly Midi Clock and Din Sync - in tempo/sync terms Word Clock is not required or relevant (the SPS-1 has no Digital Output) which is why it has no Word Clock fitted. I use a very old method of sync you probably dont want to visit - and it's a long twisty story - ask me if you are really interested - it's complicated but after 10 years of dealing with computers and sync - it's my prefered option for sure. Not for everybody though! In more simple terms - (make certain your Midi Clock output from Tools is stable first - most are horrid BTW - It's a shame you can't slave Tools off the MD which would be better. I would always work in song mode and track separate outputs from SPS-1 (6 outs) in a single record pass to separate tracks within Tools. If you need more than 6 tracks of percussion - arm more tracks and do the same from the top of the song. Try to work with the recorded performance of the machine in real-time rather than record two bars and loop it in the DAW - IMO this makes for boring and predictable electronic music and removes any posible magic that happens when machines run the length of the composition and in perfect sync. So - for a 10 minute song - you record for 10 minutes each pass - let the machines talk - see what happens! If neccesary edit the tracks in Tools after the recording. No cut and paste - it's a cheap and nasty way to make music! PT sequencer is a big no no too - in the MD you have one of the world's best hardware, active step sequencers - it is criminal to drive such fine hardware via sloppy USB/Midi from a virtual hack sequencing engine on software that is great as a Tape machine but not much else. Love your Hardware! All the best. David www.innerclocksystems.com --- In elektron-users@yahoogroups.com, "haikuhead" <haikuhead@...> wrote: > > Thanks for your post David.
