I thought I'd pass these answers from the always-reliable Jon Elektron. I
was curious about backwards compatibility in the new machines.

I suppose that 64-step MD patterns are simply truncated to
  32. Would someone here please verify that?

  Hi there Niall,

The DigiPRO wave machine isn't affected by the new waveforms. That's a
read
  only machine.

Kits from the MKII units should be compatible with MKI units. Non existant
machines will be transformed to a GND machine.
