There are, about the MD a looong time ago ;) (some years)

I've never red one about the issue concerning the monomachine so it
must be limited to the couple adapter/MD AFAIK. I don't know for the UW.

I've encountered the issue with mine:
- on normal use at home, freeze when not on a UPS
- at a friend's house, the city near mine (in the Paris suburbs), I
was lending him my MD some time, no issue at all… ^^
- when I sold the MD, freeze when I demoed to the guy at his house,
over side of Paris.
Seemingly, something in the mains wasn't to its taste.

It happened to others on the list, now, some power conditioning solves
the problem. I used my UPS (a big professional APC model, maybe it's
not useful to go that far… ;) I have not tried simpler means of
conditioning.

Note that When I tried to upgrade the OS when I sold it, I encountered
the MIDI clock on issue (the evil creamware MIDI out). The bad mains
did not interfere with the upgrade once we switched to the MIDI
interface of his USB keyboard.

Note that if you have dirty mains, switching to some power
conditioning will help improve the audio quality!

From the worst to best (and the most expensive, of course):
- "small" main filters (anecdotical)
- studio main power conditioner in small racks 1U (should be
sufficient most of the time)
- off line UPS (go on line, it's way better)
- On line UPS (best are APC pro line -all are on line- or Merlin Gerin
on line models, there's tons of them on ebay…)
- high end conditioning (win the lottery first…)

Off line UPS use the mains thru conversion without using the batteries
in the middle or double conversion, on line UPS use double conversion
Main/DC/sinus with batteries relaying if needed. On line UPC are the
best way to ensure the mains are really clean, Off line let pass some
crap thru and are slower at switching to the batteries if needed.

If you want to know more about UPS and how they work, there's some
good explanations at APC if I remember well. :)
