  I think you asked the wrong question...

  The answer is:  Sure it's effective to use it with Cubase 5.

  But the real question you need to ask is:  Is Cubase 5 the right 
environment for you?  I wouldn't buy the app, if I were you, without 
trying it and all the other available sequencers in your price range 
first and decide which one you like most.  All of them have plusses 
and minuses and in the end the one that you can use best is the one 
that's going to work best for you.
