Pro-tools MIDI is pretty sub-par as far as features go, although HD has some improvements. Nevertheless, you DO NOT want to buy pro-tools for MIDI. Pro-tools is for very high end pro audio - and it costs a shitload of money to get a rig up and running. The free version sucks balls and shouldnt be used for anything except instruction. Evilataombender, since you are clearly a beginner, you should probably go with Sonar. I think it is probably the most user friendly of the bunch. Its not the best, but you should start simple.
