Well, you're correct that all of the SID-chips parameters are controlable over MIDI, up to 50 times per second (if all registers are updated). This could be used for an external synthesizer to program. But with this you loose all of the SidStations parameters. The SidStation is turned into a dumb slave - much like a HardSID card. So that means you'd have to implement all features like the LFO's, portamento or tables in the host software. This is mainly meant for external emulation, like SIDPlay.
