Yah I agree, I just think people should appreciate the MD for sounding different. It's easy to say I wish it sounded like a 909, could do 303 bass sounds, had nord lead sounds etc. You can do all that with a Roland type groovebox. If the MD did everything people wanted, then it wouldn't be unique. I guess the good thing about trying to emulate is that you discover new sounds and learn the machine in the process, even if you don't get the sound you wanted. :o) Andy www.neuroport.net ----- Original Message ----- From: endlessnessisticman <endlessnessisticman@...> To: elektron-users@yahoogroups.com Sent: Friday, December 20, 2002 8:43 AM Subject: Re: [elektron] 909 hats Right on. But you can't blame people trying to emulate. It can move the crowds. I wish I had a better argument for this. I try not to emulate however. I really don't care what other drum machines sound like. I love my MD. It leaves the 909 in the dust. --- In elektron-users@yahoogroups.com, "Andy D" <andy@n...> wrote: > I'm confused by how people can be into the idea of the Machinedrum, but still want 909 hihats!!! They are the drum machine equivalent of the Yamaha DX7 electric piano. Every friggin record uses them in exactly the same way. If you really want them, then just get a cheap SU200 sampler that can run in sync... > > Surely, being 'forced' to create new sounds that have an equal or better listener response is a more creative approach? > > I know most people relate to and like the sound of the 909 (including me), but maybe it's time to move on? > > Andy > www.neuroport.net > > > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] Your use of Yahoo!
