stupid question: you're not in multi-trig mode this whole time are you?
because this could cause some funniness like what you mention. if you are,
then exit it while you're writing parts.

if not, then this is very weird. the first thing I would try (before
you've spent a lot of time creating and have things you don't want to
lose) is a soft reset. if that doesn't do it, I'd contact Elektron, as
something very weird is going on.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
