That's pretty generalized.  I don't think that's the best way at all.  
Yes, it's a method, but it isn't in the machinedrum... and if it's for 
live performance, that's a whole new piece of gear to haul around.  
Also, you can't mess with samples the way you can mess with machine 
generated sounds in the MD (of course, the opposite is true too, but 
since ofthicktum asked machinedrum, I'm assuming he'd prefer to have it 
there.

Anyway, if I ran off to a sampler every time I wanted a weird 
percussion sound out of the machinedrum, I'd know it about 1/10th as 
well as I know it now.
