Is > that the case? personally, I just find it interesting to learn how people get their sound. it has nothing to do with wanting to imitate them or their sound, really. occasionally though, if I see that someone I like uses a certain item that I had been wondering about, then I may be motivated to investigate it more. but the decision of whether or not to purchase a piece of gear is never (and shouldn't be) motivated by who uses it. my thought on the Plastikman thing was just that it was interesting, given that he's well known for using the classic Roland TR-X0X drum machines and people have sometimes criticized the MD for not being enough like those machines (but personally, I couldn't care less if it sounded like them or not). so maybe it would cause some people to investigate the MD more than they would have otherwise (see above).
