Well, that seems to be the way it works.
Sending the program change message ahead of the change.

But it is a bit of a limitation because the funny thing
about changing patterns with multi trig is if you
DONT change at the end of the pattern but "cut" it.

Well, maybe I have to get more deep into multi mapping.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
