Noisy machinedrum

2004-10-22 by fr0st003

Hello everyone. I think my machine drum may be fault.. I have a motu
828mk2. I have it set to +4 output on the machine drum... But if
anyway i try and boost the signal i get really loud noise.... +6 db
boost = lots of noise on my virus or any other piece of kit there is
NO noise is my machinedrum supposed to have this amount of noise?
Should i record me changing the settings on the motu to show thats its
there?

And what is the computer the 828 is plugged on?

The problem may be there…

Its going from the main outs using new monster cables 6ft in length to the motu and from
there to a powermac g5... but the noise is there prior to reaching the comp. the comp
could be off and i still get the noise when i boost the signal...

It's always best to contact elektron about these things.

Do you have it on headphones on the MD with only it plugged into the HD
?
If it's on headphones then ask Elektron.

Else it can be a ground loop… somewhere…

I have the same set up and I don't notice any noise at all. that is,
UNTIL I start
mastering and then solo the MD track. once I throw an EQ, compressor
and limiter
in there, it really makes that noise LOUD!

Im pretty angry about this i will have to pay to ship it to have it repaired... Cuzz as of now
it is unusable. Youd think after 1200 for a instrument it would be silent...

outs!! :)
