I want a case for my MM SFX-6

I want a case for my MM SFX-6

2004-11-04 by freqresponse

I emailed the Elektron staff about this and they referred me to this
forum for the answer. They said that there had been talk about a
rifle case that fit the MM perfectly. I have done several searches
and was unable to find anything.

Can someone please dig this info up.

Is there a solo track feature hidden somewhere in the OS? I have
found the lack of this feature pretty annoying.

All in all this machine is totally rad and I wouldn't trade it for
the world. I think this is the beginning of the age of the machines
due to there stability and liveliness. Playing live PA shows is
starting to become a must for electronic music artists and who
wants to see nothing but a bunch of performer's faces being hidden
by the back of a Powerbook screen.

Peace

I posted a solution I found last summer. It is attached here again....

Subject: case for the elektrons

For those of you looking for a case solution for both the MD and MnM
SFX6, here is a cheap alternative:

http://obliq.net/guestftp/elektron_case_closed.jpg

The case is actually a shotgun/rifle case I found at my local sporting
goods store for only $60 USD made by this company:

http://www.tzcase.com (they are in the U.S.) The case model number is
TZSR-53SS. If you do a google search I'm sure you can find a company
that sells them online. It is made out of corrugated or ribbed silver
aluminum and comes with pluck foam and egg-crate foam to customize the
layout inside. All 4 latches lock with a key. As you can see from the
photo, it is a rather tight fit for the MD and MnM side-by-side but it
works with a little space to spare on either end for smaller foam
strips. To keep the two machines from rubbing on each other, I used a
thinner strip of rubber to buffer between the two. With the foam cut to
size it is a real nice snug fit in the case. There is also room to cut
out a place for the MD power supply (pictured) and the MnM power cable
(not pictured). I also made a small cut-out in the foam inside the lid
to accommodate the joystick better which seemed to work well. One other
modification I had to make was removing the side hinges, otherwise the
case wouldn't close without crushing the sides of the machines.
Removing them was of no consequence to the case, the lid still stays
propped open fine.

The case itself seems built pretty well and solid, but keep in mind it
is no Anvil case. I would probably not do any extensive travel with it,
but will serve as an excellent solution for bringing your Elektron gear
to a local gig or over to friends studio. It sure beats the cardboard
box it came in. Also, the case will serve as an excellent table top for
your gear when playing.

cheers,
nate

Thanks dude.

I checked out your label. Dope. I have just started colaborating with
another electrophite.
We are calling ourselves District Radio primarily because we are
based out of DC. I have a
heavy synth backround and he has a heavy sampling background. We are
putting a site
and some fresh material together as we speak so If you are interested
I will send you a link
when its proper. Your links section is a great resource. I have added
Obliq to my
bookmarks. Rad.
