first synth tips

the sid ststion is not only monophonic, it's three voice poly/mono. also,
i think someone said it had one midi channel...not true...it has 1-16.
and although i think korg's ER-1 is the coolest drum machine to come out
in a long time, for any price and any expercience level, i thing the EA-1
synth sounds like crap.

get an older analogue mono synth like a roland sh-101, novation bass
station, roland juno-60, a bunch of old korg stuff, ect. ect.

peace, ksg

i believe when they said it only has one midi channel they meant that you
can only use one at a time (definition of monotimbrality). so u can use the
sid on channels 1 to 16, but only on one at a time. and you clan play up to
3 separate notes at a time, depending on the patch you have set up.

We're not *all* guys... :D

Peronsally I have a SidStation and SH-101 amongst others and they're not
that comparable, as they're for use in different contexts I think... An
SH-101 can sound like it's going to take off in a very low bass kind of way,
but it's too clean for me in general, I like the grittiness of the
SidStation, how it's unpredictable and unique.

With too many synths you could do just as well having samples of them, but
the Sid is a lot more expressive, I find...
