i wanted to post a little info on the shipping cost surrounding the UW upgrade. i 
purchased the UW upgrade a few weeks back and quickly discovered that both UPS and 
FedEx asking $120+ (give a take a few) to get my MD over to Sweden for the upgrade. i 
then emailed Daniel about this and he said that he was unaware that the cost for shipping 
was that high and that others also been taken back by the high shipping cost, so we 
agreed to give USPS a shot.

my usps experience went really well and was quite simple. i took my MD to a US Post 
Office and filled out the 'Customs Declaration and Dispatch Note' form (its white form) and 
followed Daniel's instructions of claiming only a $50.00 value and noting the unit was for 
repair. i can't remember which international usps service i used. i do remember that it was 
Global xxx, and it only took 6 days to reach Sweden and ultimately Elektron's doorstep. it 
only cost me like $48.00 to ship USPS. i sent my MD in the original box and also made 
another box that fit over that one.

i have been quite pleased with my USPS experience. the unit got there fairly quickly and 
saved me about $60.00. obviously UPS and FedEx are more tried and tested in 
international shipping but i wouldn't have a qualms about sending USPS international 
again.

I wonder if that means that USPS would only pay the $50.00 value
claimed if the 
package was lost in shipping? My experience has been that you can't
insure an item 
for more than the value claimed. . . . and I'm not that impressed
with the Unites 
States Postal Service's performance record regarding lost or stolen
packages. Ask 
Daniel at Elektron if they will give you another MD if yours gets
lost in transit.
