is the cable gone or just the plug at the end that connects to the MD?
the plug on mine took some strain, it got pulled, went bent,
sporadically worked etc -- v.v.unreliable & scary when the md flickered
on/off once.
eventually the plug sorta un-cliped itself and broke apart. Once broken
you kinda see it's a 2-pin into 2-holes sorta arrangement -- like a
multi/swappable plug ac/dc power adapter.
I couldn't find a supplier who did the same rating ac/ac adapter in
London [did buy direct from factory too] -- it's quite a high power
adapter! So figured i'd have to solve the cable issue to get back to
programming.....
The bit that connects to the cable was fine, the bit that connects to
the MD had bent pins etc - wasn't in any shape to make a secure
connection at all.
Managed to buy the right sized tip/plug intended for a generic ac/dc
power adapter, eg --

[can't recall exact size off top of head, i measured the original one's
width to nearest half mm, went to the store and luckily it was all
a-ok!]
The one I got had a plastic sleeve that was a bit wide and unable to fit
together with the original bit on the cable... I used a knife to shave
off some mm's around the new plug's plastic sleeve so it'd fit into the
plastic ring of the bit of the original plug still remaining [still
connected to the MD's ac/ac adapter cable etc]
oh had to slightly squeeze the 2 pins on the new plug closer together so
they'd line up with the original bit on the end of the cable... and it
works! [maybe there are ones out there that are more suitable, i was in
a hurry tho..]
..well, it can come apart if you disrespect it by yanking it or sitting
too far from the socket and moving it etc etc -- but then, prob better
that's the weak point than the socket on the md itself! --
and if it rips out it's v.easy to plug back.
of course, i expect thats voided the warranty somehow :\ well, i think
i'm out of it by now, so thats that! :)
also, the new plug was L-shaped -- so the cable can nicely go to one
side w/o worrying you're bending the plug etc too..
anyway, maybe this aint the same problem you got! if the cables gone,
you'll prob have to rip the ac adapter open and solder [or such, havn't
seen inside the ac/ac adapter] a new cable to it -- I think I'd buy a
new adapter rather than try electricute myself or distress the MD with
an unclean/incorrect connection tho [wrong guage cable/bad connections
etc etc] :)
going away for a week.. hope you find a solution!!
