Monomachine GND machine?

Monomachine GND machine?

2006-05-10 by roby

Hi, just wondering what the GND machine in the Monomachine is for (not
the sine or the noise)? It's synthesis page is empty and there's no
documentation about it in the manual. I'm hoping it will be used in
future OS updates (it would be cool if it had a GND-IMP machine like in
the Machinedrum.)

I've been using it to trigger arpeggios etc. on old analogue synths.

that seems kinda pointless (not you, i mean the machine itself)...can't
you do that with a midi track?

oh, he means synths that dont have midi as standard , some old stuff
which featured for example an arpeggiator had often an input from
which you could "pulse" your way thru the actual arpeggio you told it
to play ,, getting it to syncronize to the other gear running. there
were solutions back then aswell ;)

Not being smart but life was much tighter before Midi. When
everything locks to the rising edge of a nice +5 volt pulse wave -
everything is always on the money........ David

abso-stinking-lutely

A nice trick with the juno6 though if you get tired of the same
"melody" , get the filter to self oscillate and play around with the
filter tracking and you get a less-obvious arpeggio .. :) one of my
old ones was a bit broken and the filter tracking was way out there,
sounded fantastic!

yeah, i'm dreaming of all the possibilities until i get home. does it
send a pulse per note-on or is it a continuous pulse, tempo dependent?

oh you just put out the trigs where you like the arpeggiator to
advance one step , with clever programming you can make wonderful
stuff. it sends out an IMpulse, just a high amplitude signal for each
trig.

Re: [elektron] Monomachine GND machine?

2006-05-11 by roby

just to clarify, we are talking about the monomachine gnd not the
machinedrum (i know the machinedrum's gnd makes clicky/pulsy sounds, but
the monomachine is silent - or the pulse just so low/high that the human
ear cannot perceive it?)

Re: [elektron] Monomachine GND machine?

ok... hehe

so my original question is back up. Elektrons, what does the GND
machine in the Monomachine do, or is supposed to do?

Re: [elektron] Monomachine GND machine?

2006-05-11 by erase

oh that one is just quiet. lets say you are doing a multitrig sound
and dont need all tracks and dont want em to sound, you load those
tracks with empty machines, GND GND´s.

Re: [elektron] Monomachine GND machine?

Mee too. I should learn to read the subject lines. :-)

To make up for it, here's a UW-only track based on two samples (three if
you count a handclap) and normal MD-synthesis:

Two patterns, the rest is live jamming. The RAM machines are excellent!

I guess GND is just an empty machine. Isn't supposed to do anything,
but if you want for some odd reason to have machines on monomachine
tracks that don't do anything, you can set it so. I could see it's
used when exchange from kit to another in live use and don't want new
kit to react the settings from old kit; then GND would be kind of
usefull. So maybe it's there because it can be used to put one track
to non-responsive situation. I feel it can be usefull, when people are
constructing their gear set, with multiple machines that send
midi-information to another. Just setting volume level to zero, would
be unsatisfactory in some situations.

Toni.
