Warranty, pshaw!

Good news is it is possible to remove the bug, bad news is it requires you to remove the front panel (faceplate). The Cover is glued to the faceplate whereas the LCD is surface mounted to the first board inside your MD. So basically if u remove all your knobs and unscrew the faceplate it comes right off and the bug will be sitting on top of the first circuit board.

Warning!!: Removing your front knobs is very hard and may break an encoder... I recommend if you decide to do this you remove them with equal force on all sides, so use a tool preferably over your hands...

Anyone else have any ideas??

  HELP!
There's a freaking bug inside my Machinedrum LCD cover. What's the best
way to remove that asshole from there without damaging the machine? And
  will it void any warranty?

A tool comparable to a "cat's paw" works fine - I've opened
up my MD a few times in recent months, for various reasons.

I have one dodgy one that compressed air wouldn't fix. I
really don't want to send this thing away!

Re: [elektron] bug in the machine... literally!

actually......makes me think. Maybe you cold try some 'upside down'
compressed air to freeze that damn bug in it's tracks, then you can
just gently shake your MD with the 1/4" jacks on the bottom and try to
shake the bug outta there? Goofy, I know..but why not?

you might also try something a little more intellectual... If it is an
ant, then put some yummy food outside of the MD by one of the 1/4"
jacks, and watch him find his own way out of there. You should also
leave the MD off, as the bug might have liked the warm environment and
have been attracted to the smell of some of the boards when warm in
the first place. Between a cold MD, and a piece of fromage on the
outside of it, you might let the bug do the work for you.... better
than breaking encoders over a silly insect! :p
