Kind of hard to offer an approach without knowing more about the
nature of these artifacts you're hearing. Ideally I'd say go into a
wave editor and try and draw them out at the sample level, but maybe
there's too many of them for that, or you're talking about some type
of rumble, etc. In that case EQing them in advance might work better.
Not sure that bit reducing to 12bit first will really help that much,
though it's worth a try. Personally all my samples are 24bit anyway,
so I just leave them at that bit depth when I import them into C6, and
I've never noticed any issues with extra noise being added to them
after they get into the MD. I mean, yeah they sound different cause
not they're 12bit, but nothin out of the ordinary keeping that in
mind.
